Help Feed Richfield High School Students

“They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” -Jesus (Matthew 14.16)

Jesus cared deeply about the needs of the people around him, particularly those who were going hungry (Matthew 14.13-21). As those who claim to be his followers, we want to do the same.

This Spring, CCR is partnering with Richfield High School to raise awareness and collect donations for the Spartan Food Shelf. Started by Richfield high school students, the Spartan Food Shelf gives under-resourced students in our community with direct access to food. While many of the items in highest demand are not the most healthy, they are items that are easy to prepare and help keep students fed between “healthy” meals.

The Spartan Food Shelf is at this point entirely dependent upon donations, so each week during April and May we will be collecting and distributing one of their most requested food items. While items can be dropped off at the school during the week, we recommend bringing them to our Gatherings on Sunday nights at 5pm to streamline the donation process for the outreach workers and student volunteers.

Here are the items we are collecting and the accompanying Sunday of collection:

April 10: Chicken Flavored Ramen

April 17: Cup-O-Noodles

April 24: Hygiene Products (shampoo, conditioner, hair gel, lotion, body wash, deodorant, toothpaste)

May 1: Canned Fruit

May 8: Cereal

May 15: Ethnic Hair Products

May 22: Granola Bars

May 29: Chunky Soup
